Trim the years off your face by dressing up (or down) the tresses.

Botox? Surgery? When it comes to delaying ageing and looking younger, women are not short in options. But while you can resort to this or even a simple night time routine, there is another option that should not be overlooked. This one requires a pair of scissors and someone else to do the work for you. You see, looking younger is as easy as trying out a new hairstyle. If you’re up for a fresh look, take on these simple hair makeover tips:
Minding the length
If you’re over 40, try to keep your hair to a certain length – preferably a bob that reaches to the collarbone. Long hair is not only high maintenance, they can age you faster than you can say “Dorothy”. A universally flattering length is one that grazes the collarbone. Add layers and you have a nice shape to your cut which you otherwise would not achieve with long hair. Layers that frame the face also create a softer look to complement your overall features.
Redefining short styles
Short hair is perfectly fine but you don’t want to get an all-out boy cut or pixie crop. A flat and short hairstyle is okay in your teens, but as you mature and your jawline and forehead slacken, you want your hair to create lifts and take the focus of lines and wrinkle away from the face. Again, soft layers and wisps are great to create volume to your short do. It adds a certain pizzazz to your overall style.
Don’t be afraid of change
Many times women are guilty of looking deceptively older because they keep to the same old hairstyle that they had in school. If you are weary of drastic changes, make small ones instead. Experiment with a different parting, style your hair differently by using different hair products. These baby steps can change the way you view your hair and shave off years from your face.

Try new hair products
Your hair ages just like you. You will see it getting coarser, losing more moisture, have more frayed ends and change its overall texture. Hair that loses its shine and volume weighs down your features and makes you look sallow and tired. So the same shampoo and conditioner you used 10 years ago may not benefit you as much today. Learn the changes that your hair is undergoing. Boost moisture with hair serums and keep scalp healthy with hair tonics. Try a hair mask once a week and see how your gets a healthy boost from this simple step.
Consider having bangs
Bangs are all the rage right now. While they can camouflage forehead lines unfortunately, not all bangs are created equal. A blunt ‘babydoll’ bang that hangs straight across the forehead could backfire and make you look like you’re trying too hard to look youthful. Have your stylist cut bangs at an angle sop that they blend seamlessly with the rest of your do. Avoid wispy bangs that can create a messy look.
