This includes 153 Chinese nationals including one infant, 38 Malaysians, 12 Indonesians, seven Australians, three French nationals, four from the US including one infant, two from New Zealand, two Canadians, two Russians, one Italian, one Taiwanese, one from Netherlands and one Austrian.
He told a press conference here that a total of 227 passengers and 12 crew members were onboard the Beijing-bound plane, which went missing some two hours after taking off from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) at 12.41pm.
The passengers were of 14 different nationalities - citizens from:-

18. Australia - 7
19. France - 3
20. United States of America – 3 pax plus 1 infant
21. New Zealand - 2
22. Ukraine - 2
23. Canada - 2
24. Russia - 1
25. Italy - 1
26. Taiwan - 1
27. Netherlands - 1
28. Austria - 1
The plane's Captain is Zahari Ahmad Shah, a 53-year-old, who has clocked a total of 18,365 flying hours. He joined MAS in 1981.
He is assisted by First Officer Fariq Ab Hamid, 27, who has clocked 2,763 flying hours since he joined MAS in 2007.
Jauhari said a search and rescue team is still trying to locate the plane, which last had contact with the Subang Air Traffic Control when it was some 120 nautical miles off the coast of Kota Baru, somewhere over the South China Sea.
