SEREMBAN: Mohd Ridzuan Abdullah who is the neighbour of MH17 co-pilot Captain Eugene Choo Jin Leong said he looked different when he saw him last Saturday seated in front of his house supervising the cutting of a tree.
“I could see something different in his face," said Mohd Ridzuan, 45, but he did not take it as a bad omen.
The name of Choo, 45, was in the list of those on board the plane which crashed in the border of Ukraine and Russia.
Mohd Ridzuan, who is Small and Medium Scale Entrepreneurs Association of Malaysia (Ikhlas) president, said he got to know about the disaster after he had his sahur meal at 5am (yesterday).
He said he went to Choo’s house which was next to his at 5.40am and saw most of his family were sadden with the news.
“They refused to come out so I only managed to meet Choo's children," he said when met at the Sri Carcosa gated community housing estate in Seremban 2 here yesterday.
He said Choo's relatives and families members including several neighbours had congregated at the co-pilot's house to express their support as well as offer condolences.
Mohd Ridzuan described Choo whom he knew for seven years as a friendly person who always greeted his neighbours regardless of their race.
"Choo and his wife are very friendly. He never fails to come to my house during Hari Raya and in fact I was looking forward to his family visiting me this year," said Mohd Ridzuan.

Efforts to interview Choo's family proved unsuccessful as they declined to allow the media to enter the guarded gated community housing area.
