Article by Subhasree Chatterjee,
Special are special for some reason, and you are to skip a beat anyway. Bu what about the daily life situations, faced by men and women and not to forget the student clan, all the time? Yes, in our daily life, there are very many things that are scary and, for within in a second, that is the time we all need to realize the big shock, the heart seems to stop working. Here are the 10 such situations, listed below, although listing 10 does not cover it all, but these 10 are really the worst of such kinds:
10. I SPY THE TEACHER
Every student at some point of time has faced this and knows exactly how scary it can get at times. Sometimes, it not even our fault so to say, but deep down inside we surely know that it was actually our fault, we just fail to believe it. Anyway, the most important thing is that we have bunked classes or gotten into the class late, and when that happens, we try and avoid the professor whose class we had deliberately bunked. But luck is not always with us, and it happens so, that when we enter the hallway, there he is standing. Gullible, talking away and then the disaster happens. We get caught red handed. The sole sight of the professor makes it impossible for us to breathe for a fraction of a second and surely we can feel the heart to come out of the cage it is built to fit in.
9. HEY MOM! I WAS JUST AN HOUR LATE
Okay, this is by far the scariest of the situation for a student or for those living with their parents. These are the times, when we enter the house way after the time of our curfew. Moms seem like the CIA as they wait for us to enter the house and then they pounce on us like the prey of a cannibal. Mothers, sitting and waiting for us and giving us that look, does make the heart stop its beat and for the next fifteen minutes it beats so fast that you can actually hear them.
8. DUDE! SEE WHERE YOU GOING!!
With getting late, the other thing that is connected is the rush we are about to face in the next half an hour. So while rushing, we are almost at the verge of losing our mind, and with that come the high risk of facing a mild accident. It is really common, in our daily life. But when we nearly miss the high chances of getting hit by an accident or any situation of that sort, it is hard to believe that the heart really does skip a beat, because for the next fifteen minutes we can’t even feel our existence. We are completely transferred into a state of mental trauma and we feel no strength on our feet. But once we get over the trauma, there we go again, running off like our lives depend upon it.
7. WE HAVE AN EXAM?
Yes, if have all have had our mini heart attacks, and literally it was such a feeling when we got to know on the last minute that we have an exam to sit for. We are not always prepared, the frantic moment when you sit down with the book or the copy and want to finish it in a minute, but we are all aware of the fact that it is impossible to finish in such a short time, so this is the situation when we not only skip a beat but skip multiple of them.
6. DAMN YOU HEEL
That helpless and shameful moment, when you are walking down the street and you suddenly feel that one side of your leg feels funny. Surprisingly you don’t feel that support on it and you don’t feel that tall. Trying hard to believe that it cannot be the situation, that you have not broken the heel of your shoe, you look down and make a helpless squeal. Call it skipping a beat or call it the situation where you feel like being punched on the guts, it fits both shoe.
5. DO I SEE THAT PERSON?
‘That person’ be it the person you absolutely adore or be it the person you want to never see again, when they suddenly come in front of you, you can’t help it but your heart starts to race at such a pace that it will beat the fastest racing car, if such an race could be made to happen. When that crush is in front of you, the feeling of the knees going weak and the mind going blank is nothing unnatural. While on the other hand, when it comes to those people you want to ignore right away, all the blood seems to rush to your head and your heart stops working, you make it a point to hide, anywhere and anyway possible.
4. AM I FIRED?
You are just having a laid back feeling, you don’t have the mood to work, thinking about how beautiful the day is, when suddenly you get a call, a dreaded call, from the boss. The first thing that comes your mind is the feeling that you are certainly going to be fired, and it isn’t a good feeling. Well, I don’t know what the heart feels or how the head works at the time, because according to me everything seems to go black and the feeling is that of falling deep down into a dark pit.
3. MOM CALLED? REALLY!
No matter what your age is and how responsible you are, but when the phone rings and you know it is your mom, you have to absolutely pick it up. But the times, when you were busy and suddenly, you remember, that you have a phone. So it take it out and check for call, and there, blinking right in front of your eyes are several missed calls from your mom, you fail to think properly. The heart literally does skip beats and chill runs down your spine. Every day, at least once this happens to everybody.
2. FALL-FELL
Trying to think hard about something personal or the thing from work is bugging you, when you suddenly feel like you are slipping off the bathroom floor and then you grab onto the nearest thing and somehow save yourself. S-C-A-R-Y! The feeling of falling is the worst of all sorts. There is another type of falling which scares the life out of people and it is nothing new to anyone. At some point of time, we have all come across this feeling, when we are feeling and suddenly we feel like we are falling. Calling it scary is just an understatement, because it deserves more than that. The other thing is something, which is a regular deal with some, being careless. Suppose you are carrying something made of glass or something important and it suddenly slips out of the hand and you kind of make a quick move and save it from being ruined and earning the name of a reckless person. The heart does feel like skipping a beat and head does feel like being empty and we do feel like being nauseous.
1. HEY, MY PHONE/ WALLET!
Ah! Of course, the epic situation when we being absent-minded trying to put our hands on our pocket and can never find the absolutely important thing – may be our phones or it may be our wallet. This is the classic case of having an absolute heart attack. I am sure, if taken a reading of the functioning of our hearts, when we suddenly realize that our belongings are missing for like a fraction of second, it will read as though we have died for like a minute or so. and lets not think about the situation, when we think we have lost both our phone and our wallet, because that feeling cannot be summed up in words.
