PHU QUOC ISLAND, Vietnam, March 9 (Xinhua) -- Singaporean vessels searching for the missing Malaysia Airlines passenger plane have found some suspicious floating objects, Vietnamese official media outlets reported Sunday.
The objects, located about 100 km southwest of Tho Chu Island at 14:45 local time, were suspected to come from the Boeing 777 aircraft, reported the Tuoi Tre and Thanh Nien dailies in their online editions.
The Singaporean searchers have reported the finding to their Vietnamese counterparts, who are expected to arrive at the area hours later, according to the reports.
The Vietnamese military decided to send a helicopter to the area for further investigation, said the reports.
In response to a Xinhua query, the Singaporean Defense Ministry said they have not received any official reports about the discovery.
About 40 hours after Flight MH 370 lost contact with air traffic control en route to Beijing from Kuala Lumpur, its whereabouts remained a mystery.
A massive hunt involving dozens of ships and planes from more than half a dozen countries is under way for the plane, which was carrying 227 passengers and 12 crew members.

KUALA LUMPUR/BEIJING, March 9 (Xinhua) -- Malaysian civil aviation authorities said Sunday that search operations continued overnight for the missing Malaysia Airlines jet but have so far failed to locate the Boeing 777 aircraft.

SANYA, March 9 (Xinhua) -- An emergency response team assembled by the Ministry of Transport (MOT) set out early on Sunday morning from south China's Sanya Port in Hainan Province to the sea area where it is thought the missing Malaysia Airline flight MH370 may have crashed.
Rescue vessel "South China Sea Rescue 101" is carrying 12 divers and salvagers, and will join another rescue vessel, "South China Sea Rescue 115," at the rescue site.
