INDIA - India and The History of Man-Eating Tigers






India is known as The Kingdom of the Tigers, There are about 1,700 tigers left in the wild and reserve forest of India. In the past few weeks a tigress on the prowl in the part of northern India in the villages of UP and Uttarakhand has claimed nine human deaths in the past 11 days. The Moradabad tigress of UP have killed four men and a tiger in the Nilgiris hills of Ooty in Tamil Nadu has killed a woman and a villager was killed by a tiger near the Tadoba Andhari tiger reserve in Maharashtra, Another five people have been killed by a tiger in Karnataka state. These four states have been living in the state of fear of the majestic tiger, One of the man-eating tigress has came out of a buffer zone of Jim Corbett National Park, the oldest national park in India. Champawat Tigress

The Champawat man-eating tigress was the most dangerous and worst man eaters in the history of India, killing up to 436 human. Champawat Tiger was killed by Jim Corbett in 1911 and was the most prolific individual man eater even the worst human serial killer.


Tiger of Segur

The young majestic big cats who killed five people in the Blue Mountains or Nilgiri Hills of Tamil Nadu was become Man-Eater due to disability preventing it from hunting its natural prey. Another tiger from Mundachipallam is also known as one of the man-eater tiger in Tamil Nadu.


Man-Eaters of Kumaon

Kumaon region of Uttarakhand is well known for its man-eating Bengal tigers such as the pair of man-eating Bengal tigers of Chowgarh who reported to kill 64 people and the Thak man-eater tigress who killed four human and the most worst was the Champawat Tiger.


Man-Eaters of Sundarbans

The beautiful forest or Sundarbans is particularly famous throughout the world for its number of tiger attacks. Sundarbans is the largest mangrove forest in the world and home to over 500 big cats or Bengal tigers, one of the largest single populations of tigers in India. The Man-Eaters tigers of Sundarbans are regularly kill 50 or 60 people in a year and live very close to human villages. There is a upcoming Roar Bollywood film based upon the man eater tiger of sundernans, Roar — Tigers Of The Sundarbans.


Man-Eaters of Bhimashankar

The Bhimashankar forest is one of the most beautiful region near to Pune and the area is now known as Bhimashankar Wildlife Sanctuary and famous as the habitat of the Indian Giant Squirrel. Earlier there was a man eater tiger who predominately killed the villagers, the tiger supposedly killed more than 100 people before he shot by Kenneth Anderson.


Dudhwa National Park

Dudhwa National Park of Uttar Pradesh is a part of the Dudhwa Tiger Reserve, It was also famous for its several man-eaters in the 70s. Total of 24 people were killed before the tigress Tara was shot dead.
